The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce has proudly served the businesses and communities of Vermilion Parish for more than a century. Since our founding, we have remained committed to strengthening the local economy, supporting business success, and improving the quality of life for everyone who calls Vermilion Parish home.

Our History

The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1920 with a vision to make Vermilion Parish a better place to live, work, and do business. According to the archives of the Vermilion Parish Library, the Chamber was established to support agriculture, encourage commercial and industrial development, and promote the overall prosperity of the parish.

The original membership campaign rallied local businesses around the ideals of “Progress, Prosperity, Happiness,” with annual membership dues set at just $10 per year. From the very beginning, the Chamber recognized that a strong business community creates a stronger community for everyone.

Present Day

While much has changed since 1920, our mission remains remarkably similar. The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce exists to create a positive business climate and a vibrant community where businesses, families, and visitors can thrive.

Every day, we work to help local businesses grow, encourage economic development, support community initiatives, and promote Vermilion Parish as an outstanding place to live, work, and visit.

We envision a community where businesses flourish, families enjoy safe neighborhoods, students receive an excellent education, and residents experience the unique culture and hospitality that make Vermilion Parish known as “The Most Cajun Place on Earth!”
