Vermilion Parish Library

The Vermilion Parish Library has been serving the residents of Vermilion Parish since 1942, when voters approved a dedicated millage to establish a permanent public library system. Today, the library continues to enrich the community by providing access to information, technology, educational resources, and lifelong learning opportunities.

In addition to its main branch in Abbeville, the library system includes branches in Kaplan, Gueydan, Maurice, Erath, and Delcambre, along with a mobile library that brings books and services to communities throughout the parish.

Library Services

The Vermilion Parish Library offers a wide variety of resources and services for residents of all ages, including:

  • Laptop checkout at the Abbeville branch (available to eligible Vermilion Parish residents).

Meeting & Technology Resources

The libraries in Abbeville, Kaplan, and Erath offer meeting rooms that are available for community organizations, businesses, and civic groups during and, in many cases, after regular business hours.

The Abbeville branch also features video conferencing technology that supports educational programming, virtual field trips, medical presentations, business training, and other community events.
